Ukraine to experience heatwave reaching 35-38°C this weekend

State service for emergency situations has issued a warning of fire danger in Ukraine that is anticipated to last through the next weekend.

The news is reported by the press service of the service.

"The heatwave reaching 35-38 °C is forecast for July 25-26, in the north, most of the western Ukraine, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy region. Except for the most western and northern areas in Ukraine, high fire hazard (grade 4) and the highest fire hazard (grade 5) are expected in Ukraine," a statement noted.

Finance Ministry repays $120 mln coupon on Eurobonds

The Ukraine's Finance Ministry on July 24 repaid another coupon on five-year Eurobonds worth $2.6 billion.

A source in the Finance Ministry said this to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The coupon was repaid," a source said.

President of the Univer Investment Group Taras Kozak noted that this settlement was payment for debt servicing, not its paying off. "In late June, Ukraine paid interest on Russian debt. Therefore, the Western partners would not have understood if this coupon had not been repaid" Kozak said.

Ukrainian president accuses MPs of economic populism

It is unacceptable for parliamentary coalition members to use populist slogans and ideas, including of an economic character, leading to serious consequences for the state, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

The president criticized the bill on foreign-currency loan restructuring passed by the Verkhovna Rada at a meeting of the National Reform Council under Poroshenko's chairmanship, at which economic strategy was considered, the presidential press office said on Thursday. Deputies passed this document following populism, Poroshenko said.

Paris confirms talks of Normandy Four leaders

The leaders of the 'Normandy Quartet' countries (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) are expected to hold a telephone conversation on Thursday evening, the Ukrainian president's press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko has said.

"A telephone conversation in the Normandy format will take place on Thursday evening," he told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.

According to him, the negotiations will begin in a telephone format after confirmation of readiness of all four leaders - Francois Hollande, Angela Merkel, Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin.

Ukrnafta shareholders elect British citizen as company head

The shareholders of Ukrnafta have elected British citizen Mark Rollins as head of the company.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, 99.97% of the quorum voted in favor of Rollins.

Also the decision was made that PJSC Ukrnafta will pay no less than 99.9% of net profit for 2014 in dividends.

As reported, in 2014 PJSC Ukrnafta made net profit of UAH 4.495 billion. Pretax profit amounted to UAH 5.481 billion, and profit tax amounted to UAH 986.6 million.

All heavy weaponry to be withdrawn under OSCE control in few days - Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that the offer of the Ukrainian side to withdraw heavy weapons and establish a 30-kilometer buffer zone along the contact line in Donbas, supported in Minsk yesterday, will mean the start of a real ceasefire.

The President said this at the meeting with the activists of Luhansk region in Severodonetsk, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Kyiv warns French MPs planning to visit Crimea of consequences

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is outraged by reports on the plans of a group of French parliamentarians to visit Crimea.

"The trip of French deputies to the ARC [Autonomous Republic of Crimea] is an irresponsible step and disrespect for Ukrainian laws and the French/EU policy of non-recognition of the ARC's illegal occupation. Consequences are to follow," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry politics and communications department Director Oleksiy Makeyev said via Twitter on Wednesday.

Ukrainian prosecutors ask London to extradite former Ukrspecexport chief - media

The CentrInterpol Nationalal Bureau in Britain confirmed that former head of the Ukrspecexport state-run concern Serhiy Bondarchuk, who was placed on the international wanted list, is staying in Britain.

"Suspect Bondarchuk is put on the international wanted list and according to the Interpol National Central Bureau in Britain is found staying in that country," the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office said in reply to a request from lawmaker of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Serhiy Leschenko, the Internet publication Ukrayinska Pravda said on its website.

Poroshenko orders signing deal on 30-km buffer zone in Donbas, withdrawal of tanks, artillery

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group to sign an agreement on a buffer zone along the line of contact in Donbas.

Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Jaresko send letter of intent to IMF

Ukraine has sent a letter of intent to the director of the International Monetary Fund. 

Deputy Finance Minister for European Integration Artem Shevalev informed this in his post on Facebook. 

"The President, Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine signed a letter of intent concerning the memorandum on economic and financial policies and sent it to the IMF director," he wrote.
